Welcome to Sri Gurukulam's Sports program, where we celebrate athleticism, teamwork, and the joy of physical activity. Our comprehensive curriculum offers students a diverse range of sports and activities, including kho-kho, basketball, football, skating, and indigenous sports like silambam, providing opportunities for students to develop their skills, build resilience, and foster lifelong habits of health and wellness.

 

In our Sports program, students not only learn the fundamentals of each sport but also develop important values such as sportsmanship, discipline, and perseverance. Through regular practice sessions, friendly competitions, and team-building exercises, students learn the importance of cooperation, communication, and leadership, both on and off the field.

 

Kho-kho, a traditional Indian sport that emphasizes speed, agility, and strategy, is a highlight of our Sports program. Students learn the rules of the game, practice their techniques, and compete against their peers in thrilling matches that showcase their athleticism and teamwork. Similarly, basketball, football, and skating provide students with opportunities to improve their coordination, balance, and endurance while having fun and staying active.

 

But our Sports program isn't just about traditional sports—it's also about celebrating the rich cultural heritage of India through indigenous sports like silambam. Originating from the southern state of Tamil Nadu, silambam is a martial art that combines intricate footwork, weapon techniques, and self-defense techniques. Through silambam training, students not only learn valuable self-defense skills but also gain a deeper appreciation for their cultural heritage and the importance of preserving traditional practices.
